This article aims to analyze the huge problem of world debt that worsens over time and can lead the world economy to bankruptcy and propose the necessary solutions aiming at overcoming it. Currently global debt is equivalent to 225% of World Gross Product, according to the IMF [EXAME. Dívida global é equivalente a 225% do PIB mundial, diz FMI (Global debt is equivalent to 225% of world GDP, says IMF). Available on the website <https://exame.abril.com.br/economia/divida-global-e-equivalente-a-225-do-pib-mundial-diz-fmi/>, 18/04/201]. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reports that global debt is higher than ever, reaching 225% of world GDP, even surpassing its peak in 2009, largely due to China’s rising debt burden. Most of the debt belongs to advanced economies, but China alone has contributed 43% of the increase since 2007. China, Japan and the United States account for more than half of global debt. Computing the debt of advanced and emerging economies, its total reached a level never seen since World War II. The average debt-to-GDP ratio of advanced countries stands at 105%, while in emerging economies, liabilities are at 50%. US debt will grow from 108 percent of GDP in 2017 to 117 percent in 2023, according to the IMF. Global debt amounts to US$ 247 trillion as a bomb about to explode, according to the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
